Now that you've had time to read our book, maybe you're thinking, "What's next? I want to learn more." Well, we have the answer!
Join us for the Second Annual Judging Hunters & Equitation WTF Workshop September 16-17 at Julie's Maplewood Stables in Reno, Nevada. The workshop is an exciting clinic based on our book and taught by us. Our goal is to take out MORE of the mystery of judging Hunters and Equitation while helping you to become a MORE knowledgeable competitor, owner, trainer or judge.
This is a unique clinic that's offered no where else. In addition to teaching you how to set up a judge's card, the symbols we use, scoring, common faults and the bookkeeping process, we'll put your new-found skills into practical use with a mock horse show. There, you'll experience first-hand the judging process in real time and see how judges do what they do in the booth. If you're a competitor, you'll better understand how to make the most of your time in the show ring to impress the judges, and if you dream of becoming a judge, you'll have established valuable skills to help you on that path or fine-tune your current processes.
But it's not all about paperwork. In addition, we spend time evaluating conformation of young horses and veteran show horses, have roundtable discussions over wine and cheese, and enjoy great meals and networking. The City of Reno and the greater Lake Tahoe area are at your doorstep, so you can make it a true vacation while expanding your equestrian education among friends.
We do have a few spaces remaining, and we encourage our subscribers who enjoy this newsletter to join us in real life!

Until next time!

Question: A rider finished her hunter round and courtesy circle, and then the horse gave a big spook causing the rider to fall off. Since the round was was finished, would the rider still be eliminated?
Answer: Yes, unfortunately, she would be eliminated. The competitor is being judged from the moment she steps into the ring until she leaves. Any fall of the rider while in the show ring is cause for elimination, even if she finished the jumping portion, is completing her trot circle for soundness or walking toward the out-gate. In the jumper ring, however, if the rider crosses the finish line and then falls off, she would not be eliminated because she had completed the course and has a final score.
