Judging WTF Now Available on Barnes & Noble!
|
|
After a short break, our newsletter is back, and we're thrilled to announce that Judging WTF is now available on Barnes & Noble as a digital download for the Nook and other compatible devices. Initially, we launched the digital version via iTunes, but because we received so many requests for another ebook option, we are making it available on B&N!
In addition, we hope that our Canadian readers will enjoy having another option, since shipping the hardcover book is, unfortunately, quite expensive and not as timely as we would like.
You can click here for the B&N link.
Our next Judging WTF publishing project is already underway, and we'll be announcing more details in upcoming newsletters. We're thrilled to have you all on board to continue the judging conversations here and on our social media channels. Please keep those questions coming!
In the meantime, best of luck at your summer horse shows, and we hope to see you in the ring!
As always,
Tricia

Julie Winkel: Proper Standing Martingale Fit
During some recent shows I've judged, I noticed some martingales improperly fitted. In fact, many judges note on their cards when they see standing martingales that are too tight or too loose, and it can be at best distracting or at worse a safety issue.
I hope this video will help anyone who might wonder how to properly fit a standing martingale. We filmed this short clip during our Spring Adult Horsemanship Camp at Maplewood in May. We hold these popular camps in spring and fall. In addition to riding lessons, dining and wine tasting, we include lectures and demonstrations on a variety of horsemanship topics from tack and equipment to conformation and, of course, judging! If you'd like more information, please click here to visit our Adult Camp page and join us for a future camp.

A horse that trots a fence should canter or gallop away. A horse that lands in the trot would be scored a 55 (or in that range) for a break of gait.
Our subscribers were spot on in answering this one:
Jaimie Thurman: Same as breaking gait correct? 55?
Missy Roades: Thankfully, I can say that that has not ever actually happened to me. But now that I said that it will!
